At Setu Studio we keep things simple and honest, and that includes how we look after your personal information. This page explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Setu Studio is a yoga studio and therapy space at Kilcornan Woods, Clarenbridge, Co. Galway, run by Siobhán Moylan. We are the “data controller” for the information described here.

If you have any questions about your data, email us at setustudiospace@gmail.com or write to us at Setu Studio, Kilcornan Woods, Clarenbridge, Co. Galway, H91 H6WP.

What we collect and why

Booking a class or event

When you book through our website (using our Amelia booking system) we collect your name, email address, phone number and the classes you book. We use this to manage your booking, let you know about changes or cancellations, and keep our class lists. Our legal basis is that it’s needed to provide the class you’ve booked.

Retreats and Yoga Teacher Training

If you book a retreat or our teacher training, we may also collect details such as your email, emergency contact, dietary requirements and room preferences. Payments and instalment plans are handled by our payment providers (see below); we never see or store your full card or bank details. Our legal basis is that this is needed to deliver what you’ve booked.

Health information

So that our teachers can keep you safe and adapt the practice for you, we may ask about injuries, medical conditions or pregnancy. This is “special category” data under data protection law, so we only collect it with your explicit consent, share it only with the teacher or practitioner who needs it, and delete it when it’s no longer needed. You never have to share more than you’re comfortable with.

Holistic therapies

Our therapists are independent practitioners. They take their own bookings, keep their own client records and are responsible for that information. Please ask your practitioner for their privacy information.

Contacting us

If you fill in a form on our website, email us or message us on social media, we use what you send us to reply. We keep these messages only as long as we need them.

Our newsletter

If you sign up to our newsletter, we use your name and email address to send you updates about classes, retreats and studio news. We only do this with your consent, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Our newsletter is sent through Mailchimp.

Using our website

Our website collects some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use our site so we can improve it. Our web host also keeps short-term server logs for security.

Who we share your information with

We never sell your information. We only share it with trusted services that help us run the studio, and only as much as they need:

  • Elive — hosts our website (Ireland)
  • Mailchimp (Intuit) — sends our newsletter
  • Google — email, website analytics and the map on our contact page
  • GoCardless — process payments and instalment plans
  • Retreat venues — your name, dietary needs and rooming details, only for the retreat you’ve booked

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area, in the United States. Where this happens, your data is protected by recognised safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Class booking records: 2 years after your last booking
  • Retreat and training records: 2 years after the retreat or course ends
  • Payment and financial records: 6 years, as required by Irish tax law
  • Health information: deleted at the end of the class series, retreat or course
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe

Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser stores when you visit a website. We use:

  • Essential cookies that make the website and bookings work
  • A newsletter pop-up cookie that remembers you’ve closed the sign-up box, so we don’t show it again for a month
  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, only if you agree to them
  • Third-party cookies from Google Maps, and from YouTube or Instagram if you view embedded content

You can change your cookie choices at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or through your browser settings.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct or delete it
  • ask us to limit how we use it, or object to us using it
  • receive your data in a portable format
  • withdraw your consent at any time (for example, unsubscribing from our newsletter)

Just email setustudiospace@gmail.com. We’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, we’d love the chance to put it right first. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission at www.dataprotection.ie.

Children

Our classes, retreats and courses are for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.
