A bridge between practice and teaching

200hr yoga teacher training teachers at Setu Studio, Clarenbridge Galway

Setu means “bridge” in Sanskrit, symbolising connection, unity, and bringing people together. Based in Clarenbridge, Co. Galway, our studio was built around the idea that yoga should be accessible, welcoming, and rooted in community.

At Setu Studio, we believe yoga is for everybody. Our approach moves beyond the idea that yoga is only for the flexible or physically advanced, creating space for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to explore the practice in a supportive and grounded way.

Our teacher training reflects that philosophy. Drawing on years of teaching experience and continued study, our programme combines practical teaching skills, anatomy and physiology, philosophy, breathwork, and accessible movement practices to prepare confident and thoughtful teachers.

The training is led by Setu Studio founder Siobhán Moylan alongside Kelly Marie Mills and Anita Kerins, bringing together expertise in yoga teaching, Ayurveda, meditation, anatomy, physiotherapy, and therapeutic movement. Together, they offer a training that is deeply informed and grounded in real-world teaching experience.

Who is this training for?

This training is for anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of yoga, whether for personal growth, self-enquiry, or to teach others.

At Setu Studio, we believe yoga is for everybody. Ideas like “advanced” or “flexible enough” are not what matter most to us. What matters is your willingness to learn, participate, and engage fully with the process.

To help you get the most from the training, we do recommend that students have an existing yoga practice before beginning the course.

What you'll learn

Asana, Pranayama & Meditation

Foundational postures, alignment, modifications, and sequencing for dynamic and restorative practice. Breathwork for nervous system regulation. Accessible meditation practices and how to guide others. An introduction to the subtle body: prana, nadis, chakras, and bandhas.

Anatomy & Physiology

How the body moves and why it matters for teaching. Skeletal and muscular systems, biomechanics, the nervous system, and injury prevention, taught in a way that connects directly to what happens on the mat.

Yoga Philosophy & History

The foundations of yoga thought: key texts, the eight limbs, ethics, and the history of the practice. Not just as abstract theory, but as a framework that informs how you show up as a teacher.

Teaching Methodology

How to design and deliver classes that are safe, creative, and accessible. Sequencing, cueing, props, consent-based assists, and peer teaching practice. The programme culminates in a community class led by you and your fellow graduates.

  • "My 200hr teacher training with Setu was a wonderful experience. Siobhan, Anita and Kelly are a wealth of knowledge and I felt that my learning was really well supported by them all. I am so grateful to them for offering this experience. I especially appreciate that there was plenty of time spent practicing actual teaching rather than just theory and there was a strong focus on adapting the practice to be accessible and inclusive for everybody."

  • "I loved this course. Each weekend was like a mini retreat! Movement and practice, wonderful friends and community, delicious food, held in the space and progressing more each time. We learned how to teach Yoga, we practiced teaching each other from very early in the course. There was time for discussion and for practice. Anatomy and Physiology, Asana practice, History and Philosophy, all delivered by expert tutors. We were encouraged to incorporate Yoga in our lives, to bring Yoga off the mat, to grow in confidence and in our own practice. It is a wonderful course, I highly recommend it to anyone looking to do their 200 hour training."

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous yoga experience to apply?

Yes. We recommend that students have an established yoga practice before beginning the training. As a general guideline, around 1-2 years of consistent practice helps provide a strong foundation for the physical, philosophical, and teaching elements of the course. If you’re unsure whether the training is the right fit for your experience level, we encourage you to get in touch.

Do I need to be flexible or advanced at yoga?

Not at all. This training is built around the belief that yoga should be accessible to all bodies, not just the flexible or highly advanced. Many students join with injuries, limitations, or areas of stiffness and build strength, confidence, and understanding throughout the year.

Can I do the training if I work full-time?

Yes. The programme is structured across one weekend per month to make it manageable alongside work, study, and family commitments. There will also be practice and self-study between weekends.

How much practice is expected between training weekends?

We recommend maintaining a regular personal practice throughout the year, as this will help you absorb the material and build confidence in both your teaching and understanding of the practice. As part of the training, you’ll also receive two complimentary classes per month with Siobhán, and trainees are encouraged to attend regularly throughout the year.

What style of yoga will I be trained to teach?

You will be trained to teach Yoga Alliance certified Accessible Vinyasa Yoga, with a strong focus on anatomy-informed and inclusive teaching.

The training combines dynamic sequencing with a practical understanding of movement, modifications, and adaptation, helping you learn how to teach safely and confidently for different bodies, abilities, and experience levels.

Alongside asana and sequencing, the course also explores breathwork, meditation, philosophy, and teaching methodology to help you develop a well-rounded and sustainable approach to teaching yoga.

Will there be opportunities to practise teaching?

Yes. Teaching practice is integrated throughout the training, helping you gradually build confidence through peer teaching, sequencing exercises, group work, and practical teaching assessments across the year.

At the end of the training, each trainee will teach a full one-hour community class open to real students, giving you the opportunity to put everything you’ve learned into practice. This class will be observed by one of the lead teachers as part of your final teaching assessment, ensuring you feel prepared and confident stepping into teaching after graduation.

Is this training suitable if I don’t want to teach professionally?

Absolutely. Many people join teacher trainings to deepen their personal practice, explore yoga philosophy, or support their own wellbeing and self-development. Teaching professionally is not a requirement.

How is the course assessed?

Assessment takes place gradually throughout the training and includes teaching practice, participation, anatomy assignments, and a final teaching assessment. The emphasis is on developing confidence, understanding, and safe teaching skills over time.

How many students are accepted onto the training?

Places are intentionally limited to help create a supportive and personalised learning environment. For the next training, we are expecting between 10 and 15 students.

Is the training Yoga Alliance certified?

Yes. This is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified training, allowing graduates to register with Yoga Alliance and teach internationally upon completion.

What if I need to miss a weekend?

We understand that unexpected situations can arise. However, as this is a Yoga Alliance certified training, a minimum of 90% attendance is required across the year, which in practice means no more than two training days missed in total.

If you know in advance that you may need to miss part of the training, please speak with us as early as possible and we will do our best to make alternative arrangements where feasible.

We also ask for full commitment from all trainees, whether or not you plan to teach professionally afterwards. The training is built around shared learning, group practice, and community, and everyone’s participation contributes to the experience as a whole.

Do I need to bring my own mat or props?

You’re welcome to bring your own mat and props if you prefer, but all props and equipment are available at the studio.
